AirPower09: "Our Air Base Almost Looked Like Woodstock"
From 26th to 27th June 2009, participants from 19 different nations helped transform the military air base in Zeltweg, Styria, into the most thrilling airfield in the world: Highlights such as the first official appearance of the Austrian Eurofighters - including a demonstration of an interception -, the breathtaking performances by Patrouille Suisse, and the Turkish Stars demonstrated the immeasurable allure of man and machine in perfect harmony.
Record-breaking 280,000 Aviation Fans
AirPower09 is now history - and also became a part of history: over the two day event, Styria proved to be a charming host to a record-breaking 280,000 aviation fans from all over the world. Brigadier Karl Gruber, project manager of AirPower09, is absolutely delighted with how Austria's air show went: "I've never seen crowds as big as this here before. Our air base almost looked like Woodstock."
