Development of professional knowledge and skills required for an appointment as a Platoon Leader, Commander or Dep. Commander of a Company, or as a Staff Member in an Battalion HQ or as a Junior Officer in a multinational HQ in a Peace Support Operation (duration 2 academic weeks)

Development of professional knowledge and skills required for an appointment as a Commanding or Deputy Commanding Officer of a Peace Support Unit (battalion), branch head or Senior Staff Officer in a multinational HQ in a Peace Support Operation (duration 3 academic weeks)

Development of professional knowledge and skills required for an appointment as a Military Observer in a Peace Support Operation With regards to specific areas, the course will also enable medical assistants to carry out medical tasks (duration 3 academic weeks)

PSYOPS-PSO BC

1. AIM
This course is designed to enable officers as well as NCOs to carry out their duties as
  • specialists within a PsyOps Support Element or a PsyOps Task Force
  • PsyOps staff officers or NCOs in national or multinational HQs
  • PsyOps experts advising commanders on all PsyOps issues
at tactical and operational level in the framework of Peace Support Operations.

2. CONTENTS
After completing the course, participants are expected to be able to perform their respective PsyOps duties in the framework of Peace Support Operations. The curriculum includes:
  • PsyOps basics
    • -doctrines
    • -concepts
    • -procedures
  • PsyOps multinational planning process
    • -interaction and coordination within the InfoOps domain
  • basics in product development (television, radio, print, internet)
    • -campaign planning (Ex)
  • basics in target audience analysis
    • -cross cultural communication training
    • -practical exercise based on a fictitious scenario
    • -cultural awareness
  • NATO/EU based STAFFEX focusing on PsyOps issues
at tactical and operational level in the framework of Peace Support Operations.

3. Prerequisites PfP Students:
  • Assigned as Staff Officer for PSYOPS in a Multinational HQ in a Peace Support Operation or Branch Head for PSYOPS in a Multinational HQ in a Peace Support Operation or
  • SO PSYOPS in a PSYOPS Support Element or PSYOPS Task Force in a Peace Support Operation
  • Officer from Rank OF-2 (Lieutenant I) to OF-4 (Lieutenant Colonel) and NCO from OR-5 to OR-9
  • Language Proficiency as described in STANAG 6001:3232/English Level C

5. COURSE FEE:
The course fee and the costs for meals have to be covered by the participants.
A total of EUR 870,00 will be charged, consisting of

Course fee: EUR 660,00
Meals: EUR 210,00

The total of EUR 870,00 has to be paid by the participants either cash on arrival or by international bank transfer without any costs for the receiver (confirmation has to be shown) unless there is a different bilateral agreement between the Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence and the student's Ministry of Defence.

Field Humint (FHT)

The aim of this course is to learn skills in order to take responsibilites during a peacesupport-operation as officer or NCO, as Cdr or Team-member of a Field Humint Team. After having finished the course, participants are expected to be able to perform their respective duties as FHT members in the areas of operations independently and to realize and collect information about possible threat to force-protection/operational security (OPSEC).

Prerequisites PfP Students:
  • The Armed Forces Language Institute conducts an English language test on the first day of the course. Officers and NCOs not passing the language test (level "C" or the equivalent NATO level 3 according to STANAG 6001) are not permitted to continue the course.

Combating Trafficking in Human Beings Course (CTHB)

AIM:
  • To raise awareness of THB as a violation of human rights, its influence on a safe & secure environment (SASE) and to realize the possible threats to force-protection.
  • To enable soldiers to respond to cases of human trafficking with appropriate means.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  • Become familiar with the UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons and the UN
  • Protocol against Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air
  • Study THB-related issues on a global, regional and national level
  • Learn the tasks of peacekeepers concerning THB
  • Get informed about trafficking methodology
  • Get informed about the NATO, UN, EU approach on fighting THB
  • Understand and apply cultural awareness
  • Learn and understand the behavior of victims as well as the principles of trafficking & health-related issues
  • Get informed about anti-trafficking responses in BIH and KOSOVO
  • Learn and apply screening and identification techniques, concerning THB victims
REQUIREMENTS Military Branch:
