Lebenslauf
Harald Pöcher was born in Graz, Austria, in 1956. Pöcher graduated from the Theresan Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, in 1978. Since then, he has served in various functions at Theresan Military Academy, the Medical School of the Austrian Armed Forces (Vienna), the Military Province Command of Burgenland and the Ministry of Defence. Currently he is Head of Auditing Division B at the Ministry of Defence and holds the rank of a Brigadier-General.
He obtained his Master’s degree in economics in 1990 and his Doctoral degree in economics in 2003 from University of Vienna. In 2008 he habilitated himself in Military Science-Economics of Defence at Zrínyi Miklós Defence-University in Budapest, Hungary.
Pöcher’s main fields of research are defence economics, history of the armament industry, and historic and present aspects of the defence and security policy of Japan. He has written seven books and more than hundred articles.
