He holds degrees in History from Tbilissi State University and earned a Ph.D. in political sciences. He followed different programs and seminars in Germany, Switzerland and the USA and did extensive research at Stanford University, CA, and the Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC.
In 2003, Mr Darchiashvili was head of the research department of the Georgian parliament and trainer in a conflict resolution programme of the UN in Tadjikistan. He is currently working as a researcher at the Tbilissi State University and at the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development. In his publications he mainly focuses on Georgia’s security strategies and Russia's role in the region.
