Vorwort
The severe demographic decline is a common challenge facing the entire Western Balkans region, whose internal relations are otherwise still partly strained by the negative legacy of past wars. The articles in this volume provide an excellent overview of the social, economic and political implications of demographic trends for the individual Western Balkan states, all of which officially aspire to join the EU, and whose regional relations oscillate between cooperation and antagonistic measures.
